An invitation to celebrate the life and personality of Lee Miller, an iconic woman who experienced the golden age of European avant-garde both in front of and behind the camera—as a model and as a war correspondent. At a time when dim-witted celebrities become idols, the charismatic Lee Miller stands as an inspiration for anyone with a thirst for freedom and creativity. Her career began as a model in New York, appearing in Vogue and posing for Edward Steichen, but she soon grew bored and set off for Paris to refine her skills as a fashion photographer alongside Man Ray. She moved among the Surrealists—Picasso, Éluard, Cocteau, Dora Maar—and when war broke out in 1939, she traveled across Europe, capturing the horrors of the conflict. A documentary that reveals a body of work that began as hedonistic and experimental, only to become raw and deeply committed.  Capturing Lee Miller was the film which inspired “LEE MILLER” starring Kate Winslet.
